South Penquite Farm

One of our yurts.

Our Yurts
"...for that back-to-nature experience..."

The Mongolian Yurt, called " a vaulted tent" or "felt tent" in the ancient times, is a domed peaked tent. The frame of the yurt is a supporting ring, formed by some wooden poles. The wooden poles are fastened with leather thongs and studs to form a fence-like structure (which are called "Hana" in Mongolian). In Mongolia the frame of the yurt is covered with thick felt fastened from outside the yurt with ropes, and every yurt has an opening on the top, which provides both light and ventilation, and a wooden door facing south or southeast

We will have four locally made Yurts available for holidays at South Penquite this summer

  • Goldilocks & Daddy Bear Yurts (sleep up to 6 close friends or family)
  • Mummy Bear Yurt (sleeps up to 4 in comfort)
  • Baby Bear Yurt (for cosy couples)
each Yurt has plenty of room for a travel cot (available on request)

Inside the Yurt looking outOur Yurts are fully equipped for that 'back to nature' experience, with all the home comforts you need. Each have a wood burner & gas stove to cook on and provide heating. Futons provide sleeping and seating areas and a cot is available if needed. Rugs, throws and cushions add colourful comfort. all cooking and eating utensils are included - just bring you own linen or sleeping bags

Set in a secluded corner of our campsite with stunning views across the moors. Look up at the night sky through the roof light, open the door to allow the moorland air in, or snuggle up around the wood burning stove. Hot showers and loos are free to use and we have a freezer for ice pack exchange

The Yurts are available from May til October and all bookings are Friday to Friday
Please click here for rates for 2008

Any dates in June,September or October available at half of marked price for 3 night weekend stays

Dogs

Because we are a working sheep farm and because of our close proximity to the open moors I'm afraid that we cannot accept dogs however small or well behaved.
However next door to South Penquite is an excellent boarding kennels which would then give you the freedom to explore Cornwall while keeping in daily contact with your pet

Penquite Petcare can be contacted on 01208 850360
please book well in advance - these kennels are extremely popular
