Organic Farming The aim of Organic farming is to produce quality food without the use of chemical pesticides or artificial fertilizers. There are several basic principles and methods some of which are listed below.
At South Penquite we started conversion in May 1999 under the guidance of the Soil Association. It takes two years to convert the land over which time we have not used any pesticides or nitrogen fertilizers
As you can see this is a very long term process requiring a great deal of committment as it takes several years before a farmer can produce finished Organic beef. However there is a growing market for Organic produce and quite deservedly so for Organic husbandry as well as ensuring the well-being of the farm and livestock, also cares for the environment If you are interested in learning more about Organic production and standards then please click here to be taken to the Soil Association web site | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
