Family Art Workshops
"...be naturally inspired & creative..."

Carol Whibley is a trained sculptor with 13 years experience of teaching workshops to all ages and abilities. She is known for her ability to out that creative corner in all of us that needs expression.

Activities at South Penquite will use the farm as inspiration. Participants will be able to roam the farm, collecting natural materials to spark the imagination and be adapted to create works of art. Alternatively materials can be transformed into secret worlds that children can immerse themselves in and just play

Adults will be required to assist their children if necessary but also have the time to make and play too

Activities for all ages will include;

Light Box PhotographyClay CreaturesFelt Making & Felt Figures
Light Box Photograpy - using natural materials and paper to compose amazing pictures on a light box that can then be photographedClay Creatures - using clayand collected natural materials to creat all manner of animals, dinosaurs and monstersFelt Making & Felt Figures - make a piece of felt using traditional techniques and/or making figures using dry felting techniques
Light Box PhotographyCreating Small WorldsMud Painting
Creating Small Worlds - using natural materials such as stones, sticks, leaves, etc to make mini woods, jungles or fairy dellsMud Painting - collecting mud samples then mixing with pigments to create your own paint to create fantastic pictures

Activities for adults and children over 8 years old;

Lantern MakingInstallationsWillow sculpture
Lantern Making - using withies and tissue paper and fairy lights to construct a wonderful lantern to light up your holiday eveningsInstallations - making sculptures and patterns only using the things found in the landscapeWillow Sculpture - using withies to create....well, anything really. The only limit is your imagination

Mini Yurt Making.Cost for adults and children: £15 per person per day (10am-4pm), £10 per person per half day (10am-1pm). There is no charge for non-participating adults

Mini yurt making - this is a course which is a bit more involved and would take approximately 2 days to complete. The whole family can create different components (the frame, the felt covering, rugs, wall hangings, furniture and play figures) to make a complete play set to take home as a special reminder of your holiday. This course can be booked by phoning Carol to discuss dates (see booking form for details).Costs will depend on the number of participants

For 2012 the courses will run on the following Thursdays;
26th July, 2nd August, 9th August, 16th August, 23rd August, 30th August

and return with your deposit of 50% of total cost
